I'm so excited about my new Secretary (how many men have said that before breakfast). I've always wanted one, a secretary. No, not that kind. I waited a long time for this baby, and I'm sorry to say that it's no longer available (I got lucky and found it on clearance). I felt for a long time that I need a place of my own to 'work': a sacred space, with my pretty things. For a while I worked at the Laundry room counter. Not exactly sacred. My feet stayed warm but somehow I never produced much other than a laundry list. Whether it's a Secretary desk or just a pretty writing desk, I think we caregivers need a place of our own. Blogger, writer, painter, poet, we all need a place to create. I looked around, and a good secretary is hard to find. So here are a few suggestions if you're in the market for one. Most Secretaries are in two pieces, which means you can separate them if you want. I've also included pictures of the Secretary I cobbled together from two separate pieces and used for years. I tried the top bookcase both ways up, to see which way looked more fitted. If you shop your home, I'll bet you'll find two pieces that fit together too. I apologize for the fuzzy photos of the white Secretary. They were taken before I was as highly, highly skilled as I am now.
