If, like me, you are seduced by beautiful fabrics in beautiful patterns, you are probably also tortured by which ones to put together. As much as I love and live with neutrals, finding colours and patterns that play well together is a preoccupation. I laugh out loud when I see the fabrics, colours and patterns that some designers put together. But I understand that to make it onto the pages of a design magazine, you have to be ahead of the curve and, sometimes that vision - especially lately - borders on the bizarre (even garish). I have chosen 12 fabrics, all from one supplier (link at end of post), that play well together as a class or in small groups (can you tell I was a teacher?). There are no rules. I have chosen what looks good to my eye, but I've pushed us both a little, to keep up. It's a tad Ralph Lauren-ish, I see now. And I did start with Tartan. Nothing bizarre or garish about that. RL is after all, my all-time, hands-down, non-negotiable, without-question, defend-him-with-my-life, at-my-table-in-heaven, favourite designer . . . of all time.
